On portraying Chad Michael
Murray's TV mom: "Karen is much more courageous than I am,
especially when it comes to raising children. I think what I
like most about her is that she is so strong."
On getting a hot new (on-camera)
boyfriend: "I hear that Karen will have a love interest [this
season]. At one time they were looking at Bon Jovi, which I
would not have minded (big smile!). However, I am married and I
must say, having to make-out with anybody besides my husband
will be weird. So far, we haven't had to deal with that, but
it's my job."
On the girls of One Tree Hill:
"[Bethany] Joy is the sweetest, most considerate individual.
Hilarie is fun! This is a girl who can whip together a new
dress, by hand, in one afternoon. Like Peyton, she marches to
her own drum. Sophia is all girl. She has the most amazing
presence. She is very sexy and she doesn't even know it...I
don't think Chad stood a chance. No, not at all.
On growing up in the spotlight:
"When I was [starting out as an actor], I didn't want to ask too
many questions. Sometimes that's good. Making mistakes can teach
you a lot. It's not an easy industry to be in when you are
young. My advice: 'keep your ears and eyes open, never listen to
the critics and don't believe your own press.'"
