Marshall-Texas football game part of film plot
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. Marshall's football team is being portrayed in
an upcoming film scheduled to premiere at next year's Sundance
Film Festival. "Dirt Nap" pits the Thundering Herd against the
Texas Longhorns in the Orange Bowl. The film stars Ed Harris,
John McGinley, Paul Hipp and D-B Sweeney. It's about three men
in the midst of a mid-life crisis on a road trip from Pittsburgh
to Miami to see the fictional game. Sweeney also co-wrote and
directed the movie, which is being produced by George Parra.
Others in the cast include Moira Kelly, Janet Jones Gretzky, Pat
Hingle, John McEnroe and Vanna White. Marshall rebuilt its
football program after a 1970 plane crash killed 75 players,
coaches and others. The school hasn't had a losing season in
more than two decades. Some of the film's final scenes will be
shot September Third at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego during San
Diego State's season opener against U-C-L-A. ___ Information
