[Nov 18, 1998]

Moira Kelly was on Howie Mandel promoting her inspirational television
program "To Have and To Hold." The following is a synopsis of her
appearance for fans that were unable to watch or missed the program.
Before introducing Moira Kelly, Howie showed a clip from the show. When
Moira walked out she waved to the audience before sitting down. She was
wearing a beautiful fitting red turtleneck sweater, which matched Howie's
shirt color and a dark gray skirt. She looked very professional,
sophisticated and charming. In her hands she brought out a dark pair of
slippers to inform the audience of what a "mench" Howie Mandel was.
Next, Howie opened the interview by commenting on the distinct Irish tone
in her last name; Kelly. Moira explained that she was of Irish descent and
from a large family of six children. "Six children who competed for
attention." Moira said that they are all still very close, but they have
their own secrets. Moira commented on how she is tight lipped and therefore
cannot indulge Howie on any of her secrets. When Moira said she was tight
lipped she was attempting to make a joke. A joke with a drum beat that
follows. Moira had to do the drum beat herself.
Howie revealed one of Moira's secrets that she does elephant and monkey
impressions. Moira clarified the secret by informing the audience of where
the impression originated. When she worked at McDonald's at the take out
window she use to do various impressions to entertain herself. One of the
impressions was of an elephant as she moved from first window to second
window. Another impression was of international accents. That is, people
would give there order to an American Southern accent, give their money to a
British accent and collect there food from the elephant. Hence, Moira
played all the roles. She worked at McDonalds for two years during high
school.
Howie moved from McDonalds to Moira's personal life. He asked if she met
any men while at McDonalds. No. Was she dating anyone? She responded very
professionally with, "No, I don't have that luxury right now." Moira
revealed that she does have a mating call, which she demonstrates for the
audience. I don't know how to spell out the sound, but think of Tarzan
calling out. Only with style and grace. Her mating call originated in
college and has stuck over the years. Howie commented, "you don't have a
mate, so maybe you should change the call." Moira wittingly replied with,
"maybe to 911." After Moira demonstrated the call the audience cheered and
replied back. Moira says, she has used her mating call in bars to quiet
down the crowd and get everyone to "look at me."
Moira began to play with Howie as he continued to ask her about how she
used the mating call on guys. As Howie leaned in and asked out specifics
regarding the mating call, Moira responded by moving closer to Howie and
seductively saying it depended on the moment and situation. Howie had to
break the eye contact and conversation, because of Moira's intimate, playful
and soothing tone. All this was done very professionally.
Howie brought up the fact that Moira drove herself out to L.A. from New
York on her own. Moira clarified that she had originally, during college,
taken a road trip with friends to L.A.
