24 March 2004 - Wilmington, North Carolina |
This section is dedicated to my trip to
Wilmington, NC on 24 March 2004. I called it "Operation
OTH2Y4" for fun. Plus I wanted to put something together
quick so I could get it uploaded as soon as possible. My
trip started in the morning around 8am from Durham, NC where I
had been staying for the previous few days. My "picture
story" shows photos and a little description about each
photo to the best of my knowledge. If something I typed
up is wrong or incomplete, please let me know. Otherwise
the pictures are in a timeline order of where I was in the area.
I would recommend checking out
Paddy's Hollow if you want a good meal. The food there was
excellent. Also recommend going to Poodle Paradise off
Water St for shirts and stuff from the area. Got most of
the gifts from that place.

ONE TREE HILL Filming Locations!!! (updated
3/9/04)
 * the
bridge -
The bridge that Lucas is walking across in the
opening credits is located on 6th Street, just
past Red Cross Street. Warning: it's totally in
the ghetto! Seriously, the place is freaky!
Don't say I didn't warn you!
* Karen's Cafe-
located on corner of Front & Grace Streets,
downtown. Used to be Jen's radio station on DC.
Prominently marked with burgandy awnings, you
can't miss it! It's not a real place where you
can go in & eat, but you can look inside the
window & see it all set up & it has a painting
on the door that says it's used in OTH. When
they have been filming, you'll be able to see
the "THUD
Magazine" sign
right in 1 of the store windows right across the
street. I don't think they leave the THUD sign
up all the time though.
* Lucas' b-ball
court- it's
across the river from the downtown riverfront
area. It's actually right next to the USS NC
Battleship, a huge WWII ship that's on the river
that neither DC nor OTH ever show. Sometimes you
can see a riverboat in the background, it's
called the Henrietta & you can ride it along the
river. You can also see the building that James
Van Der Beek used to live in when they shoot
here!
* Tree Hill High-
The exterior of the school is Cape Fear
Community College, located downtown. The
basketball games are filmed at Laney High
School, though. It's located in the northern
part of the county on North College Rd. I hear
they film there a lot on Sundays.
* The guy at the studio said that the
away games
are played at Topsail High, in Topsail Beach.
Don't ask me how to get there, it's quite a good
ways out of Wilmington. I dunno why they went so
far.
* The
'Burn the Boat'
event was held on the riverfront downtown also.
You probably recognize it from DC, even though
they don't show as much of it on OTH.
* Nathan &
Hayley's first date
showed them eating on the riverfront on Water
Street. They put the tables out there, they
aren't there usually. It's near where Pacey &
Andie shared the dance that time. I believe the
store they went in to buy each other gifts is
Bernie & Cecil (sp?) on Market St. near Water
St. That's also where Brooke & Peyton went
shopping to get outfits for that party where
Peyton was drugged.
* Scott's Body
Shop
- is really called Performance Imports, & it is
located just off Market Street on Covil, behind
the car dealership.
*
Lucas & Karen's house-
is at 1829 Wrightsville Avenue (the 1-way end of
it that's closest to downtown, opposite Dock
St.).
* Lucas & Keith's
accident
was done at the corner of Princess & 3rd Streets
downtown (with Care & Tam "supervising" of
course! LOL).
* Some of the
hospital scenes
from 113 were done at New Hanover Regional
Medical Center on 17th Street. (Tam, Care & I
were there in spirit, even if they weren't brave
enough to let us on set!). Lucas' hospital room
was at the studio, though.
* The steps of the Federal Courthouse on Water
Street were seen when Peyton & Brooke went to
the party
& Peyton was laying on the steps after & Lucas
came to get her & beat that guy up.
* Nathan's beach
house is at
Carolina Beach, on the main road. (I'll get the
house # next time I'm down there).
* Nathan's house
in on Country Club Road (gotta check on that
house #, too). It's a private residence, so
careful when you're stalking!
* As of January 2004, the
Screen Gems studio tour
includes: interiors of Lucas & Nathan's houses,
Hayley's room, Peyton's room, Lucas' hospital
room, Dan/Deb's marriage counselor's office, the
locker room & showers, & the school hallway. I'm
sure
some of
these will change as the show goes on,
it just depends on when you go as to what you
can see. And let's not forget the tow truck that
Lucas drives! For trivia lovers, the license
plate on the truck says, "I Took It".
Can also see various other vehicles that are
used, like Peyton's car, Brooke's Bug (it's an
off-white color, though it looks blue on TV),
etc. You can also see what's left of Dawson's
room & the Worthington set from DC. Cost of the
tour is $15 (as of 1/18/04).
* In "Suddenly Everything Has Changed", Peyton,
Brooke, & Haley are at the
mall. The
pic of the outside they showed is not what the
mall really looks like, but the inside is really
the mall, it's called Westfield Shoppingtown-Independence.
Not that great of a shopping adventure, though.
The
carousel that
Lucas & Nikki go to in "First Cut..." is also
located in the same mall.
* Brooke & Lucas had their first date at
Bluepost Billiards.
Lucas also met Nikki here. It's located at 15 S.
Water Street.
* An upcoming episode (not sure on the #) will
feature a
cheerleading competition,
which was filmed at UNCW's Trask Collesium
(that's the day I was supposed to be an extra
but got dissed
).
*
To be an extra,
call Fincannon & Associates casting agency (or
stop by, it's right at the studio on 23rd St.).
You'll need to talk to Maclaine (sp?), he does
the OTH extras. You have to be an American
citizen to be an extra. Their # is
(910)251-1500. When you get into town you'll
need to stop by their office to fill out
paperwork & get them to take your pic. Then
they'll call you when they need you. They
usually don't know too far in advance of what
kind of extras they'll need, so you can't really
plan too far in advance. There is no age
requirement to be an extra, but if you're under
18 you'll need to get a form for your parents to
fill out (I think this isn't turned in until
after you work, though).
HAPPY
STALKING!!!
